It all starts with the fields on an established farm in Scotland using organic and regenerative practices wholly focused on sustainability and biodiversity.
The flock – every sheep is registered with a pedigree name and a certificate of bloodline going all the way back to Shetland. Expert shearing of the sheep on the farm. It’s a family affair with all hands on deck moving sheep, fleeces, and treating sheep for any ailments whilst we have them rounded up. |
Electric vans, charged by the farm’s solar power system, transport the cleaned fleeces to The New Lanark Spinning Mill, Scotland, which uses Scottish hydro-electric power to fuel the traditional spinning machinery dating back to 1764.
The pieces are hand framed, using renovated 1960s Dubied machines, no longer in production, and lots of elbow grease. Each unique season-less piece is washed and steamed, shaped and dried finalising the process. |
